WhatsApp AI Agent by AiSensy
WhatsApp AI Agent for Shopping Assistance
Build the Shopping AI Agent for E-commerce in minutes & let it turn "show me something nice" into a shortlist, a choice and a paid order - without leaving WhatsApp.
No coding needed!

What Your AiSensy Shopping AI Agent Handles
The browsing that happens before anyone knows what they're buying, handled inside WhatsApp.
Helps Customers Find the Right Product
Not sure what to buy? The agent asks about their needs and budget, then shares suitable products with photos so they can compare and choose.
Shares Payment Links in the Chat
Ready to pay? The agent shares a payment link on WhatsApp chat so customers can complete their purchase without waiting for your team to send it manually.
Takes Orders Through Your Shopify Store
The agent collects the customer’s preferred size, colour, and quantity, places the order in your connected Shopify store, and shares confirmation once it’s successful.
Confirms the Address Before Ordering
A missing flat number can delay a delivery. The agent collects the delivery address and PIN code, asks for missing details, and confirms everything with the customer before submitting the order.
Helps Customers Start a Return
The agent collects the order details, asks which item they want to return and why, then checks your return policy and guides them through the next steps.
Shops in Your Customer's Language
English, Hindi, Hinglish or anything in between - the agent matches how your customer writes.
How Browsing Turns Into an Order on WhatsApp
Here’s how the AiSensy WhatsApp Shopping AI Agent handles conversations automatically, with human handoff when needed.
The Vague Start
Customer begins the conversation: "Need a gift for my sister's wedding, no idea what to buy."
There is no product, category, or budget mentioned. These kind of questions are exactly the messages that get abandoned on a website.
The Two Questions
The agent proceeds to narrow down the requirement by asking budget, and whether her taste runs traditional or contemporary. That's all the agent needs before it can be useful.
The Shortlist
The WhatsApp AI shopping assistant then figures out three options, with photos and prices, all inside the budget & all actually in your catalog. It does not share a category link with sixty results.
The Pick
The customer chooses one of the options shared with her, the payment link gets shared within the same WhatsApp chat, and the order is placed with a gift-wrap note attached. Done!

Key Terms: How AiSensy AI Agent works
A brief description on each section you'll see inside AiSensy AI Agent Dashboard and what each one actually does.

Business Profile
Who your agent is and who it works for. Your business details, the agent's name and greeting, and the ground rules it must always follow.

Knowledge
Everything your agent is allowed to know. Crawl your website, upload documents or paste text - the WhatsApp AI agent answers from these, not from the internet.

Skills
The jobs your agent can do. Switch on a ready-made skill or create your own, and the agent works out which one a conversation needs.

Products
The catalogue your agent sells from. Sync your store or add items by hand, then pick which ones the agent is allowed to recommend.

Payments
Your checkout, inside the WhatsApp chat. Connect Razorpay or PayU & the agent can send a secure payment link the moment a customer decides.

AI Messages
Each reply sent by your AI Agent counts as one AI Message and is deducted from your active plan. You get 500 free AI Messages to test your agent before going live.

Ground rules

Train the Agent with Your Knowledge
In this step, you have to tell the agent about your shopping website. Here, you can add information regarding shipping charges, delivery timelines, return policies, sizing guidance, payment options, and approved offers.
You can submit this information in the form of PDF, DOC, TXT, or CSV files. The WhatsApp AI agent for E-commerce entirely relies on the kind of information you submit. Hence it always responds according to it and never gives generic replies.
Every source shows "Ready" once learned.
Perform the below mentioned steps:
Crawl a page (website URL)
Upload files (PDF, DOC, TXT, CSV - up to 50MB each)
Paste text (policies, scripts, price lists)

Choose the Images It Can Share (Optional)
Well, showing images is useful for size charts, comparison guides, and lifestyle images. Avoid uploading duplicate product images if these already come from the catalog.
When you add your website, the shopping WhatsApp AI Agent automatically fetches the image from it. You can control the visuals the agent can share in chat - product shots, catalogs, offers.
Untick any image it shouldn't send.
You can:
Create Image library (enable/disable per image)
Search images

Enable the Sales and Lead Qualification Skill
In this step, you have to begin with the two prebuilt skills that do the selling groundwork. Sales and Lead qualification skill must be enabled before proceeding with this WhatsApp AI Agent. Navigate to and click on Add Skills, then hit Add on Sales (guided selling) and Lead Qualification. Click on Done and the required two skills are enabled.
The next step is to configure both the skills as per your requirement. You must expand each one and tell it how your store actually sells - the counter should read 2 enabled. You build your Shopping skill on top of these, in the next step.
Sales (guided selling) fields you must fill:
Sales motion
Why this motion
What "closing" means here
Cross-sell / upsell when it genuinely fits
Price posture
Do's & Don'ts
Objections & responses → + Add objection
Lead Qualification - fields you must fill:
Suggest questions
Question to ask + contact attribute
Required
+ Add question
Add tag(s)
Set contact attribute(s)
Hand off to a human
Push qualified leads to your CRM

Create the Shopping Skill
In this step, navigate to and click on Add Skills. Check if the skill you are looking for is already there in the prebuilt skills or not. If the skill you need is not already available, then navigate to and hit the Create custom button. You can name it Browse & Buy, and pick Task skill as the type.
What kind of skill is this? (Task skill)
Icon & name: Browse & Buy
When should the agent use it?
Instructions
Add skills
Now, you must make sure that the instructions fed to the agent are clear and easy to understand. The agent behaves according to the instructions given to it.
One such template example is:
"When a customer says 'Do you have this in size M?' or 'I want to order the blue one', check the connected catalog before you answer. Confirm the exact variant, size and colour, share the image and current price, then place the order. If an item is out of stock, say so and offer the closest available option instead of leaving it open. Never confirm stock, a discount or a delivery date you haven't checked."
The shopping AI agent for E-commerce then uses your instructions and connected catalog to take customers from browsing to a confirmed order, inside the same chat.

Enable It on Your Agent
Now that you have created the skill you need, it starts to appear in the Skills list. You can now switch it on, expand it to set your cut-off and where a qualified applicant should go, then hit Done.
All you have to go through is:
Skills list
Enable the shopping skill
Expand to configure its variables, templates & ads
Skills enabled counter
Now your agent is well taught and it knows how it should respond.
Before enabling the skill, you can instruct your shopping WhatsApp AI agent to ask one question at a time, recommend a small selection with clear reasons, answer objections using provided information, and guide customers towards checkout.

Add Your Products
This is one of the most crucial steps of all. Providing the users with product information is the center of this agent. You must add or sync your catalog so recommendations refer to actual products, variants, and prices.
Choose which catalog items the agent can recommend - so every suggestion comes from your actual range.
Catalog products (select what the agent may recommend)
Add products by hand (for bundles or items not in your store)
Sync from Shopify
Sync from WooCommerce
Import CSV/XLS

Connect Your Payment Gateway (Optional)
The step is optional and depends on checkout. You can keep this step if you want to allow the WhatsApp AI agent to collect payments within the chat. You can simply skip it if it directs customers to your website checkout.
Connect your payment gateway so the agent closes sales with a secure payment link, right inside the chat.
Payment gateway (Razorpay or PayU)
Out-of-window template (optional)

Link Your Meta Ads (Optional)
You can keep this step optional. It stands useful for enquiries from Click-to-WhatsApp ads. This allows the conversation to start with the advertised product or offer.
If you are running Click-to-WhatsApp ads, you can map each ad to a custom greeting & context, so the WhatsApp AI agent knows exactly which ad brought the customer in.
Add ad (map ad → custom greeting & context)
Ad ID
Label
Greeting (first message to user)
Context (extra context for the agent)
Discount honoured at checkout (optional)
Products featured in this ad

Set Your Fallback & Handoff Rules
In this step, you get to decide what happens when the agent can't help. Write the fallback message, switch on Hand off to a human, and add the phrases that should pull a person into the WhatsApp chat.
Fallback message: Write a reply for when the agent cannot find product information or retrieve details such as availability, pricing, sizes, colours, or delivery options.
Human handoff: Enable handoff for personalised shopping assistance, questions the agent cannot answer, order or payment issues, returns or exchanges, and requests to speak with a team member.
What you must fill:
Fallback message
Where your agent runs: up to 3 test numbers
Hand off to a human: toggle
Trigger phrases
Handoff message

Connect Tools & APIs
This step entirely depends on the flow of shopping. This is needed for live stock checks, delivery availability, cart creation, or other actions your catalog connection doesn’t already support. You can skip this step in case of basic recommendations and product links.
Actions let your agent fetch live information or complete tasks using connected tools and APIs - checking an order status, creating a CRM lead or booking an appointment.
Hit Add custom API action, tell it when to call it, then paste your cURL - the request fills itself in.

When should the agent call it?

What if the customer doesn't know what they're looking for?
That's the situation this agent is built for. It asks a couple of questions - occasion, budget, taste - and turns a vague brief into three specific options, which is what a search box can't do.
Can it shop to a budget?
Yes, and it respects it. Tell a customer's budget to the agent and it only shows what fits, rather than showing the expensive option and hoping.
Can it help with gift shopping?
Yes, and it's one of the strongest uses. Gift shoppers arrive with an occasion and a price range rather than a product name, which is precisely the conversation this agent handles well.
How many products will it show at once?
As many or as few as you allow. Three tends to work - enough to feel like a choice, few enough to actually decide. Set the number in your ground rules.
Can it show new arrivals or seasonal collections?
Yes. Select which catalog items it may recommend and update that selection whenever your range changes, so the agent surfaces the new season rather than last year's.
What happens when nothing in the catalog fits?
It says so, rather than pushing the nearest thing. A customer told honestly that you don't stock what they need comes back; one sold the wrong item doesn't.
Does the customer have to leave WhatsApp to buy?
No. Connect Razorpay or PayU and the payment link arrives in the same conversation, so browsing, choosing and paying all happen in one thread.
How is this different from the Product AI Agent?
Shopping starts from "show me something"; Product starts from "which one should I get". This agent turns a vague brief into a shortlist. The Product agent takes it from there with specs and comparisons. Most stores run both.
Will it push products the customer didn't ask about?
Only if you want it to. Ground rules decide how hard it sells - you can allow a relevant add-on suggestion, or tell it never to suggest anything beyond what was asked for.
Do we need a Shopify store to use it?
No. Sync from Shopify or WooCommerce if you have one, import a CSV, or add products by hand - a catalog is what the agent needs, not a particular platform.
